apologies.....

I just wanted to log in to say hi and give you an update of what has been going on. After a wonderfully relaxing week in Phuket, unfortunately, I returned to Singapore to suffer an abscess in my cheek and it made my whole side of my face swell. I felt like 'elephant woman'! It coincided with my planned Hong Kong trip so as soon as I landed off the plane I fled to the Dr. He drained as much as he could - I was told to fully drain I would have to be put under General Anaesthesia and it was not worth the risk. Now I'm on a course of antibiotics so as the infection doesn't get worse and crossing fingers + toes that it gets better soon. (I'm also sky high on painkillers...)
I think my vanity gets the better of me sometimes and I have taken to hiding till the swelling has completely gone (Dr's estimate approx one week or so...) however i did venture to meet some girlfriends today whom I want to say a BIG thank you to, for keeping my mood elevated and spirits up. I want to apologise for my mood swings of late- I think its cause my body is in over drive to fight this infection, in turn draining my energy. sorry sorry sorry to those whose heads I’ve chewed off *oops*
I also wish to apologise for not seeing friends on my brief visit to HK also but as you now know it was mostly spend with Drs...
On a lighter note.......I am very optimistic of my upcoming trip on Monday to New York ;-)
If there is any one else around I could do with the company (and perhaps some sightseeing)
No bars or club hoping though!!!
My appointment with Dr Chang is Tuesday 22nd April and I am looking forward to seeing him and meeting his team. This journey to New York will be a positive and fruitful adventure ;-)One I am positive about.
Well, that is all for now my dears.
As always, I am sending you all hugs and welcoming in those positive vibes
Love and kisses

Vaccine 2

well, what can i say.
I want to remain positive and tell you all went well but i also do not want to lie to you.
My second trip was very difficult for me.
I am not sure if it was partially because i chose to go on my own - i thought as the first was OK to endure that i would not need assistance or company on the second trip because it would be such a brief trip - oh how wrong i was!
After my experience, i really do urge you to have company when going through this. even if only for the moral support.
I arrived ok and checked into the same hotel as before - Zum Lowen. unfortunately, my suite was not available so they gave me a different room, which was equally as nice - bright airy and had a little terrace. i could actually get wifi here too (unlike previous trip)
I settled in and slept soundly ready for my big morning the following day.
I went to the Clinic and met with Dr Nesselhut (Jnr) discussing all option for the further vaccines.
FYI i have been given the option to continue this treatment programme in New York and have decided to take it. New York maybe further away to travel too but i will feel closer to a 'city' ambiance that makes my blood and soul pulsate ;-)
(although Duderstadt is charming, i really do feel the extremely slow relaxing pace a little TOO slow for me....i'm a city girl by heart)
Anyway, i got my jabs at approx 1pm Monday 30th March and then went for a brief walk after to purchase water and snacks to consume in my room.
At approx 4pm i thought i had been knocked over by a sledge hammer!
Luckily i had already changed into my pajamas and was resting on my bed watching a movie when i suddenly started to shake.
I climbed under the covers but it didn't seem to help. i then proceeded to wrap myself in two layers of quilts and woollen blankets. It all happened so fast. i started to shake, then a rush of pain to my pelvic area suddenly over whelmed me, quite literally taking my breath away. The pain felt like it was moving up my back then i suddenly felt like my head was about to explode! it was horrendous.
i can assure you it did not feel like this the first time round.
i was so shocked. it was all happening so quickly too.
i managed to stumble to get my wash bag from the bathroom, extracting my painkillers, which i took along with a sleeping pill and literally drugged myself to sleep.
the next morning i awoke almost as if it were a dream - with exception of my damp sheets from the night sweats.
i slowly and groggily returned phone calls and drank copious amounts of fluids to ensure i was not dehydrated. Then slept most of that day + night.
Wednesday morning i packed and headed back to the airport.
It was a brief and memorable experience.

I am now in Thailand with friends and family preparing for my next trip in a few weeks to New York for round three.
This time, i have made it obvious to friends i would be most grateful of the company.

I know most of this is 'psychosomatic' and having a positive attitude is what gets us all through a day of hell, once in a while we all have a bad one, and this i think was a little worse than even i was prepared for. I am psyching myself up for round three and am optimistic with the wonderful company of Dr Chang giving me the vaccine and my friends walking this path with me (easy to find friends to join me in NY as apposed to sleepy-ville duderstatd ha ha!) i know with all my trip is bound to be a success ;-)
Don't get me wrong, i believe in my heart that the last trip was also successful but i just wish it weren't so painful.
I have been advised next time, to take the pain medications immediately after the shots not waiting until feeling the effects ;-)

well, that's it for today i think. tiring even writing this ;-)
you'll be happy to know I've been walking up and down the beach getting my daily exercise (when weather permits- now rain season in Thailand but still a delight to be here) am also eating healthy and drinking my coconut juice every day ;-)

sending love and hope your week ahead is filled with love and laughter!
will write again soon
I LOVE YOU

arrival in Duderstadt (2)

I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason - hits hard sometimes and other times I feel this is the only thing that keeps me going, knowing there will be a silver lining or by sharing my experience some-one else can benefit.

Well, today on the aeroplane coming over from Singapore to Frankfurt I decided to skip watching the usual blockbuster movies and surf through the 'documentary' section (thank you SQ for such great in-flight entertainment system!)
Anyway, there was a show titled 'food matters' and as I am on a new food routine my curiosity peaked. Well, my choice was for good reason too! what came on has left a haunting impact!
I want to share with this link to visit www.foodmatters.tv
In the 'film' (I actually thought it was an episode of a series) it has several world acclaimed 'nutritionist' talking about how food affects us, and how they found vitamins and organic food can cure cancer! watching it was incredible.
Dr Raymond Chang (whom I consult in N.Y.) and I have has this conversation in depth about supplements aiding those doing Chemo etc (and this is also what he practises - East West alternatives) but now it truly has 'hit home' to me.
Even those of you who don’t have cancer and just want to feel better, I would highly recommend watching it!
Did you know Vitamin C can elevate your mood? (may explain why I feel better after consuming Berocca) and they claim on the show it can also cure cancer - when used intravenously. I really would love to talk to some-one who has been through this!
They also suggest the following
Studies have shown, when patients are using both conventional therapy (chemotherapy, radiation and surgery)and using nutrition and high doses of nutrients, the results were as follows:• People on chemotherapy did not lose their appetite• Hair loss was reduced or hair loss not experienced altogether• People did not have nausea

They discuss it a lot further in the movie.
They also talk to Charlotte Gerber, whose father started the Gerber Institute, which I’ve discussed briefly earlier, where they have also shown HUGE leaps in how our diet can aid good health.
I know this may sound like common sense but how often do we actually heed to it?
They recommend that at every meal, at least 51% of your meal should be RAW (yes, trust me, it is very difficult to do - in-flight meals don’t really cater to that thinking!!)
I'm still thinking about everything they said and it resonates loudly.
I know I’m definitely going to look into this further ;-) I hope you do the same!

I still can’t stop thinking about it!!!!
Anyway, I’m here now in Duderstadt, back at my usual hotel Zum Lowen and counting the hours down till my second vaccine tomorrow.

I really miss you all and want to send you all a very big hug.
May Monday bring light love and joy into your day!
Wishing good health and signing off for now
All my love
Nicki

letters

well, i have to say, i have had quite an over whelming response to my blog (a little more so than i anticipated...)
I firstly want to say a HUGE thank you for sharing your experiences and i really hope i some how help you, either by listening, or aiding by also sharing.
I am sending you all BIG hugs and wish you good health along the path you are walking.
Those of you starting Chemo this week (and a lot more people than i thought have shared they are now going through this) Be strong, stay POSITIVE! and above all else, try and at least find something to smile (or attempt a laugh at) each day. I know it's hard but please try.
sending you positivity, hope, strength and BIG smiles ;-) i love you!

i want to share an unusual email i received and one i am not sure whether to take seriously.
(i apologise if i offend the author, this is not my intent. I have deleted the name accordingly)
as i have been bombarded with eating / diet suggestions - yes, i am taking a 'mostly' organic diet now, eating Cordyceps daily (also known as 'winter worm - summer grass') as well as drinking lots of fresh fruit and vegetable juices.

anyway, thought I'd share this, in the hope it may help others.... i have added my own notes (in brackets) next to the letter

Hello Ms Elrick,
I am a cancer researcher and do cancer research in US. I am just checking around Internet and finding your blog. You are a great lady. There is some information which I am not quite sure whether it is really work or not.
For Dendritic cells therapy:Dendritic cells vaccine + thermotherapy will works better. (yes i have heard of this also, the clinic i attend also has this option) In Germany, Dr. Roberta Gorter are using that to treat patient and are more successful.
For Nutrition:You can tried Gerson therapy:For cancer treatment. i have heard great things and looking into this
You can tried to find a book " one answer to cancer " written by Kelly and his follower is Gonzalez.
For cervical cancer, around one hundred years ago, there is a doctor use syphilis to cure for his patient. If you interested in it, I can give more information.
Good wishes,
L** Z***
personally, not so sure about the syphilis thing but who am i to knock research (though i will avoid personally trying this out!) was this a 'personal' offer????

anyway, i really do appreciate all info, help and tips that will aid myself and all others in ensuring a healthy and fulfilling LONG life. please keep them coming in.
If there is anything in specific you would like me to share please let me know.

signing off for now...... LOVE YOU!
less than a week to go for round 2!
(admittedly I'm nervous but also excited about the end results...... only 5 more to go!)
